I began work in the fashion industry at the age of 13 with the production of dresses in a factory based in Istanbul, Turkey in 1980.
Work continued there until 1983, when I transitioned towards a dress boutique as a sample maker.
The following year I expanded from dresses towards leather, working with factory production of leather. In 1986 I achieved the role of production manager in skirt production for a skirt boutique. It wasn’t until 1989 when my work expanded to the UK, where I carried on producing skirts and jackets through a factory in Peckham, South London.
My next promotion arose in 1995, as the production manager of the outerwear department, where my team was producing 6000-7000 units weekly.
This lasted until 2001, when production was established in China and Turkey, while branching out across Europe, with wholesalers pinpointed in London, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam etc.
Furthermore, at the same time I had started my own fashion brand, Pumpkin Clothing, based in London.
This was altered to Funky Clothing from 2008-2013, with several shops across the capital. In 2015 I was given roles in private tailoring for big names such as River Island and Top Shop.
Finally, I then decided to create my own brand, with A-Class Tailoring in 2018, opening the first shop in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and then in Berkhamsted, in 2020.
